Hello Everyone, 

I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart for supporting Operation Smile. I traveled to Cebu, Philippines last summer with my mom for my very first medical mission trip. I was so fortunate to be with such dedicated doctors, nurses, and volunteers. It was very sad to hear that these children were discriminated against and shunned in their community because of their facial deformity and simply because they looked different. It was an incredible experience that I will never forget, nor will I ever forget the names and faces of the beautiful children whom I befriended, especially Hazel, Lance, Harde and Baby G.

During the Sundance Film Festival in January 2018, I spoke at the ChefDance event, celebrating 49 Remarkable Women in business and entertainment. I closed my speech with the modified poem by Prince Ea, “I Am Not White, You Are Not Black,” which is all about how we are ONE, and we are here on earth to help each other. I was overwhelmed that so many people stood up to donate toward my goal of providing 1,000 surgeries for the children born with cleft lips and cleft palates. We raised over $66,000 that night!

I am very honored to be a part of Operation Smile’s global family. These operations change the lives of these children forever and open up opportunities for them that they most likely would never have without the gift of surgeries. I have committed to raising $240,000 for Operation Smile, which would pay for 1,000 surgeries ($240 per surgery), and all of you have supported in giving that gift of a beautiful smile to these children. I thank you and thank you!
