2023 ISLC ATL APPLICATION - STUDENT PROGRAMS

Our conference would not be possible without our student leaders! We invite current sophomores and juniors to apply for an Assistant Team Leader position at ISLC 2023. If you are interested in this role, please complete the following essay questions.

Involved as an active Operation Smile club member at school for at least 1 year
Current high school sophomore or junior
Highly motivated, self-directed and problem solver
Detail-oriented and well organized leader
Multitasker with strong time-management skills
Team player with strong work ethic
Good communicator with excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills

Question - Required - Assistant Team Leader Scenario #1: Your Team Leader becomes sick with an infectious stomach bug on the morning of team games and is unable to participate. Therefore, you are left in charge of your team for the rest of the day, including team games, chants and banners, and the final party. During team games, your team loses game after game, causing the group moral to drop lower and lower. This causes your team to become negative as they start complaining and turning against each other. What do you do? How will you ensure that your team ends up having a good time?

Question - Required - Assistant Team Leader Scenario #2: During your first team huddle all your team members are quiet, no one answers questions or is ready to start a conversation. Your TL is pushing through the activity, but could use some support. What do you do?

Question - Required - Assistant Team Leader Scenario #3: Assistant Team Leader roles and expectations are set prior to application and enforced upon acceptance. If you were a staff member and there were four ATLs who continuously missed calls and did not submit work within the deadline, how would you handle that situation?
