I am running a 50k race to raise money for Operation Smile – a global medical nonprofit organization that provides free sugeries for children around the world born with cleft lip, cleft palate and other facial deformities.
Every three minutes a child is born with a cleft lip or cleft palate – and many families can't afford the surgery they desperately need. In many places, children with cleft conditions are abandoned or abused. Many times they have trouble eating and drinking and can struggle to survive. Those that do can face a lifetime of shame and torment.
This cause is near and dear to my heart. My nephew Cameron was born with a cleft lip. We were very blessed with the fact that it had minimal effect on his pallet. However, he has had to undergo a few surgeries and he will have some dental surgeries and cosmetic surgeries in the future. The fact that Cameron was born here in the United States makes it so he has access to this type of medical care. Children born in other parts of the country are not so fortunate.
For as little as $240 and in as few as 45 minutes, Operation Smile can provide life-changing surgery – and renewed hope – for children around the world.
I have started with the goal to raise enough money to pay for two surgeries. I would love to keep increasing my goal. Please, consider making your tax-deductible gift today.
