My name is Caitlin Klein and I am 14 years old. I got involved with Operation Smile in 8th grade and decided that I want to do all that I can to help this organization because what they are doing is so meaningful.
Operation Smile provides surgeries for people with cleft lip and cleft palate that do not have the money or resources to fund their own medical procedures. People with extreme effects cannot eat, drink or have normal social lives. The surgery not only heals their physical problems but also gives confidence and hope where there may not have been any. I am so thankful to live in a country and a family where I have everything I need. My heart hurts to know that there are many millions of people that do not feel that same blessing.
Being involved with Operation Smile is a relatively small commitment on my part but makes a big impact and is very fulfilling. I am honored to be able to participate and hope to continue to do so for many years to come.
This year I am asking my friends and family that would typically give me a gift for Christmas to please donate here instead. My goal is to raise $240 because that it what it costs to give one person a life-changing surgery. The impact this will have on the recipient is far greater than any gift I could be given. Whether you can give $5 or $50, I would be so grateful for your contribution.
Merry Christmas!
