Why Operation Smile? My good friend and dentist, Sandra Fuller, DDS was a dancer last year and I was thrilled to see how excited she was to volunteer. I thought Operation Smile would be a great organization to support and having been through some personal challenges over the past year, I'm following one of the Dale Carnegie principles to conquer stress and worry - Create Happiness for Others. Operation Smile is creating happiness for others around the globe...this is my small way to help.
Merikay Hunt Tillman is the founder of COACH MKay Companies, LLC and her firm is dedicated to Creating Catalysts for Change through keynote programs, customized seminars & executive coaching. In her spare time she is launching a private monthly newsletter for the residents of Sedgefield all about their kids, pets & local events. Her toughest job is being a mother of three children and now a mother-in-law. Her easiest job is taking care of Daisy, a female boxer mix from the shelter who loves her unconditionally and never questions her coaching.
Merikay is passionate about professional development and volunteering. She was a certified Dale Carnegie instructor for over ten years and a member of the NC Speakers Association, National Society of Certified Healthcare Business Consultants, & Speakers Consultant Network. She is serves as President of the Human Resource Society of Greater High Point and is a former president of Triad Networks, Staff Parish Council Chair for Christ United Methodist Church, UMW President, Swim for Cancer Chair for Friendly Park Pool, and a former board member for the Adult Center for Enrichment.
Merikay’s educational background includes a B.A. from UNC-Chapel Hill & master’s degree from NC A&T State University in human resource counseling. She is a former adjunct chaplain for Wesley Long Hospital. She is the recipient of the 2013 National Spotlight on Speaker Award at the SCN Conference. Merikay has presented customized programs to over 1,000 audiences, posts a monthly blog on her website http://www.coachmkay.com.
About Operation Smile
Operation Smile is an international medical charity whose global network of thousands of credentialed medical volunteers from over 80 countries is committed to helping improve the health and lives of children from more than 60 countries. Since 1982, we've worked with local medical professionals, governments, hospitals and other NGOs to deliver the safest care to each of our patients, and have established care centers wherever possible to give children ongoing medical treatment.
Operation Smile continues to provide training and education for local medical professionals so they can provide care within their own communities and share their expertise. To date, we have provided more than 220,000 free surgeries for children born with cleft lip, cleft palate and other facial deformities.
