Dr. James (Jay) Wyatt
Dr. James (Jay) Wyatt was born an raised in Atlanta, Georgia and has had a somewhat circuitous route to Greensboro. Although he always had a desire to go into medicine, many of his early years were involved in the performing arts. As a matter of fact, he transferred to the Northside High School, School of the Performing Arts, where he participated in many theatrical performances and was selected to perform with The Best of Broadway, a small traveling entertainment group that performed for local and statewide businesses and schools. Dancing was an integral part of the group, and he has kept an attraction towards dancing since that time.
During college he remained involved with the arts, but not to the same degree. The same was true for medical school and residency training in surgery where his free time was significantly limited. He began his private practice career in San Jose, CA in general surgery and trauma, and came to Greensboro, NC in 2000 to head the trauma program, which he continues to do today.
Throughout out his career he has served the under-privileged and the indigent patient. Operation Smile, Dancing with the Carolina Stars 2017 allows him to continue to help the disadvantaged while also affording him the opportunity to live out one of his “bucket list” desires, which is to perform a mind-blowing dance in front of his peers.
